So, you want to begin a career in law enforcement, but not sure you have the funds to do so? Well, there are plenty of law enforcement scholarships to help you attain your goal. If you are going to pursue a career in law enforcement, there is no need to accumulate thousands of dollars for student loans. When you are looking for ways to reduce your college tuition expenses, you can also investigate law enforcement scholarships available through your school’s financial aid office.

For example, criminal justice students at Sam Houston State University can apply for a variety of law enforcement scholarships that are awarded based on both academic merit and financial need. Law enforcement majors at Idaho State University and Florida State University are also eligible to apply for several school-sponsored awards. Once one has applied for all school-sponsored law enforcement scholarships that one is eligible to receive, one can then begin to seek out the various national scholarship programs that assist students who wish to pursue careers in law enforcement.

Here are a couple of examples: The office of the Police Corps is a federal program designed to reduce violent crime by increasing the number of skilled police officers working on community patrols across the United States. It offers law enforcement scholarships of up to $3,750 per year to students who plan to earn their undergraduate degrees, complete police corp training, and serve for at least four years in a community at risk. These law enforcement scholarships are renewable and students can receive a maximum of $15,000.

The money can be used for tuition, fees, room, and board. Men and women of all ages, races, and economic backgrounds are encouraged to apply for the Police Corp Scholarship program. Family income is not considered when awarding these law enforcement scholarships, although undergraduates must be attending school full-time. Community College students are eligible if they have been accepted into a four-year college or university.

Another is the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Criminal justice students planning to purse law enforcement careers specializing in fraud awareness can apply for the Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. This $1,000 law enforcement scholarship is given to current full-time undergraduate or graduate students who demonstrate a passion for the field. In addition, students may also apply for one of several ACFE chapter sponsored law enforcement scholarships. All scholarships offered by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners require a completed application, essay, transcripts, and letters of recommendation.

So, for those of you who wish to get started in the field of law enforcement, there is money available to help you on your way. You just need to do a little research on law enforcement scholarships.
